Then, if many women are at the helm of a village, can you imagine the degree of transformation? A lively example is unfolding itself at unfolding itself at Madhavaram village of
Suryapet district. With the initiative from the sons of the Soil like Sri Koti Reddy, superintendent of police, Ram sudheer, School Assistant (Teacher), the entire village panchayat was unanimously occupied by an all-Women team. Besides, women’s committees were formed for each important village decelopment activity like education, health, drinking water and sanitation. Ms Vijayalakshmi, Sarpanch and Ms Janakamma, Vice-Sarpanch were all smiles when asked about their achievements in a short span of time. The long list includes a library, purified water a gymnasium, English Medium sections in ZP school, greenery etc. Their honesty in admitting that their move towards prohibition of liquor still awaits results stuns everyone.
